Roy Williams and KU Fans Laugh Together

First off, I can't believe the guy is still in college. One of your favorite transfers, the great David Padgett of Louisville, is likely lost for the season with a broken knee-cap. This is another in a long line of injuries for the over-hyped Center who never lived up to his advanced billing. Recruited by Roy Williams, he never was comfortable playing under Bill Self. He spent one forgetful year in Lawrence where he struggled all year and his father Pete was way too quoted for a player's father. He did hit a big shot to beat Missouri on the road, and for the most part, all was forgiven from the Jayhawk nation.

To me, Padgett was more Eric Chenowith than Nick Collison. (in the interest of full disclosure, when he signed with KU, I said to all my boys "this is the next Nick Collison." Man, was I wrong.) He was a whiner, always seemed to be injured, and never embraced Lawrence. So off to Louisville he went. Rick Pitino seemed to lose confidence in him every other month. He was so up and down, yet this was going to be his big year, his Senior year. He was moved into the starting lineup ahead of the uber-talented Derrick Caracter. That lasted one who month and now his career is seemingly over.

While I feel sorry for him for his career ending, I have no sorrow for Pete Padgett, who's meal ticket soon won't soon be playing pro ball and ending his financial worries. Back to work for life like the rest of us Pete!
